About metal allergies
Metal allergies can be a concern when choosing a ring.
You'll want to be careful before deciding on a ring so that you don't end up not being able to wear the ring you've carefully prepared.
This time I will talk about metal allergies.
A typical symptom of a metal allergy is when the metal dissolves due to sweat or other factors and causes dermatitis (itchiness, redness, blisters, etc.) on the part of the skin that comes into contact with the metal.
When choosing a ring, you should pay attention to the material (base metal).
There are three metals to pay particular attention to:
These three are often used as metals (alloys) that are mixed together to give the ring strength and color.
・Nickel: Used in everyday items and coins. (It is not included in KARAFURU bullion.)
·palladium
・Copper...Be careful when choosing gold color.
Platinum and gold are typical materials for rings, and platinum and gold themselves are metals that are less likely to cause metal allergies. Generally, platinum rings contain a few percent palladium as an alloy, while pink gold rings contain a large amount of copper as an alloy, so care should be taken.
There are also cases of dermatitis caused by factors other than the material of the ring.
It is also important to determine whether or not you are suffering from a metal allergy due to the material.
・Dermatitis caused by sweat... Wearing a ring for a long time can cause sweating and lead to miliaria. When you sweat, you should take off your ring and wipe the sweat off frequently. Also, metal allergies are often caused by sweat, so you should be especially careful about sweat. One way to prevent this is to choose a ring that has a small surface area that touches your finger.
・Dermatitis caused by dirt on the ring...Dirt can accumulate on the markings on the inside of the ring and cause a rash. Clean your ring regularly.
・Dermatitis caused by detergents, etc. ... Dermatitis can also occur when detergent is left behind after washing dishes or in the bath. Rinse your hands and rings thoroughly, and when using detergent, try not to wear your rings or wear rubber gloves.
Before you buy a ring
Which metals cause allergies varies from person to person, so if you are worried about metal allergies, it is a good idea to get tested. It is a good idea to identify the metals that cause allergies through a patch test.
However, patch testing itself carries the risk of allergies, and it is difficult to perform in the summer when you sweat a lot, so be sure to consult with your doctor as soon as possible before getting tested.
